ArtsPower’s musical Laura Ingalls Wilder follows the tomboyish Laura, her older sister Mary, her Ma, and her Pa as they travel across the unsettled frontier of the late-1800s American Midwest. Many challenges threaten the Ingalls family’s well-being, including disease and devastating crop losses. Powered by their love for and devotion to one another, and their unwavering “pioneering spirit,” they keep searching for the perfect place they can call home.

Pioneerin’ spirit is the feeling of adventure and curiosity that drives the Ingalls family westward in their covered wagon. Along the way, the Ingalls face many obstacles, but they never waiver in their pursuit of a new adventure. In the end, Laura discovers her love of storytelling, the talent that will someday bring her national fame as one of America’s most beloved children’s authors. Best for ages 9 to 12.

Young Anne and her family no longer feel safe in their Berlin home. With the Nazis in power, life in 1938 Germany is changing all too quickly. In order to protect their daughter, Anne’s parents must make a most difficult decision to send their daughter on the Kindertransport out of Germany to find safe haven in England.

My Heart in a Suitcase is ArtsPower’s compelling, dramatic adaptation of Anne Lehmann Fox’s courageous autobiographical account of her experiences as a 12-year old on the Kindertransport out of Germany. Beginning in December 1938, Anne and 10,000 other Jewish children fled Germany, without their parents, on the Kindertransport, afraid and uncertain of what the future would hold for them and the families they were forced to leave behind.

While the one-hour, one-act production depicts only a portion of Anne’s life, from August 1938 to the moment she departed on the Kindertransport in December 1938, it lays emphasis on the saving powers of love, self-sacrifice, and hope in the face of unbearable loss. Best For Ages 10 to 14.

As live in-person performances are on  hold, we are offering an exciting way for your kids to enjoy high-quality, literature-based, theatrical performances online from ArtsPower, a leading national touring theatre for young and family audiences. We’re partnering again with this fine organization to make their shows available online to you until June 30, 2022.

Would you make a deal with a friendly monster?  Based on the multi award-winning picture book written by Danny Schnitzlein and illustrated by Matthew Faulkner, ArtsPower’s musical tells the funny and poignant story of Danny, a young boy who doesn’t want to eat his peas. When a crafty monster appears from underneath his kitchen table and offers to eat those pesky peas, Danny is ready to make a deal with the monster. In return for eating Danny’s peas each night, the monster wants one of Danny’s possessions. The first night, it’s Danny’s soccer ball. The next night, it’s his bike. But, when the monster raises the stakes, will Danny make the right decision to refuse the monster? ArtsPower’s wonderfully-crafted, fast-paced musical tells a relatable tale of facing our fears, developing character, and overcoming obstacles.
